GONDWANA TEASES THEIR UPCOMING EP ‘SEASONS’ WITH LEAD SINGLE ‘WECHE’

Gondwana KE is known for their authentic African sounds across many dance floors in Nairobi and are now marking their 30th release with ‘Weche’ produced by Under Bridges' Punk Mbedzi and Gondwana’s resident Dj/Producer Euggy and performed by Akoth Jumadi

The song takes an ancestral approach complemented by captivating sounding riffs and an ear warming horn section that accompanies Akoth’s rich Dholuo and Swahili vocals, together with her infectious East African strings and lead melodies. ‘Weche’, which loosely translates to “issues” or “worries” in Dholuo is a song about a young woman expressing the qualms of her relationship with a man to her friends and family. In the song she yearns for freedom and regaining her happiness in a relationship that no longer upholds the security it used to.

The three (Euggy, Akoth, and Punk Mbdezi) individually release and showcase music in various parts of Africa and the world, gathering inspiration from different cities and directing that energy to their process of music composition.
