PLAYLIST: 256 to the World

With Uganda’s music industry still in its adolescence, and pathetically underfunded, the stylistic diversity of the nation’s musicians is often underrepresented. Many labels and media houses prefer to put their money behind acts that fit a safe, proven-profitable dancehall influenced, autotune drenched afro-pop archetype that has become emblematic of the industry as a whole. 

We at Tangaza thought it right to compile a playlist that further embraces the multiplicity of Ugandan musicianship. Spanning hip-hop, soul, alté, jazz, pop, and genres yet to be defined, we present to you 256 to the World. Enjoy!
