Her music blends edgy trap with bold femininity, supporting women in all their endeavours. She uses her wordplay to challenge those who undermine her talent due to gender stereotypes, urging women to take up space and showcase their power wisely.

What’s your earliest memory with music?

When I was a child, my father used to play a lot of Madonna, Yvonne chaka chaka and Michael Jackson. We used to sing along to the DVDs he would get. I was also hugely inspired by my older sister who listened to a lot of hip hop and that sparked my interest. She listened to a lot of hip hop namely Tupac and biggie and would blast the music so loudly from her room and I wanted to do the same.

Who have been/are your musical influences?

I am heavily influenced by Nicki Minaj who happens to be my idol. I love Kanye west, Doja cat,Kendrick Lamar and Tierra whack 

How would you describe your sound?

Edgy trap, I make hip hop that’s edgy pushes the norm, unapologetically embracing my femininity while still embracing her sexuality and supporting women in all that they do

Who/what is your dream collab?

I would love to collaborate with k.keed from South Africa, she inspires me as well with her lyricm and sense of humor 

What’s next for you?

I am about to drop an entire body of work called the groovy affair that happens to be my 3rd Ep.

Sabi Wu

23-year-old artist, music producer, sound engineer, social media personality, and entrepreneur Sabi Wu is known for his fresh and creative musical approachHis earliest musical memories involve playing melodies by ear on a small keyboard at age nine and being influenced by the reggae and '80s/'90s music his parents loved. Drawing inspiration from US HipHop and RnB, Kenyan artists, and global genres like UK afroswing and Jamaican Dancehall, Sabi Wu crafts Kenyan-influenced urban music with a global appeal. He dreams of collaborating with Kendrick Lamar and is eagerly preparing to drop a new album in August, marking an exciting new phase in his musical journey.

What’s your earliest memory with music?

My earliest memory of making music was when I was 9 years old. My mum bought me a small keyboard and I would make melodies by ear and sing over them. For listening to music, my dad loved reggae and a lot of 80s and 90s music. My parents would play music on a system they had. Thats my first memory

Who have been/are your musical influences?

I have many music influences. Im mainly inspired by US HipHop and RnB from the early 2010s all up until the 2020s. Artists such as Kendrick Lamar, J cole, Drake, Future and Young Thug. I am influenced by Kanye West and Metro Boomin when it comes to production.Im inspired also by Kenyan Artists such as Mejja and the whole gengetone movement. Wakadinali have also inspired a lot of the way I write some flows. Lastly, I also take a big influence from UK afroswing and Jamaican Dancehall.

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is Kenyan influenced urban music presented in a popular global music format

Karuga is an emerging DJ based in Nairobi, Kenya, celebrated for his innovative and eclectic approach to music. His work reflects a deep appreciation for both modern and classic sounds, blending future beats, eclectic soul, and timeless gems with use of Edits and Flips to captivate and energize audiences. As a rising talent in the Nairobi music scene,  Karuga is committed to pushing the boundaries of traditional DJing and offering fresh, dynamic performances.

What’s your earliest memory with music? 

My earliest memory of music involves the nostalgic sounds of old country and soul records played by my father. I vividly remember the soulful melodies of Kenny Rogers,  Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Arthera Franklin, Al Green  filling our home, creating a profound and lasting impact on my musical sensibilities. Additionally, I have fond recollections of watching a TV show called "The Beat," which introduced me to the vibrant world of hip hop and R&B. These early experiences with music, from classic soul to emerging hip hop, laid the foundation for my enduring passion and connection to diverse musical genres.

My musical influences are varied and encompass a broad spectrum of styles and artistsKaytranada, Knxwledge, Joe Kay (Soulection), Kendrick Lamar, Coco Em, Jyoty, Sango.

My sets are characterized by their eclectic and immersive nature, aiming to expose the audience to a rich tapestry of sounds. I strive to blend future beats, eclectic soul, forgotten gems, and timeless classics, creating a musical journey that engages and excites listeners. Each set is designed to offer a fresh and dynamic experience, combining familiar favorites with innovative tracks to keep the energy high and the crowd captivated. My goal is to curate a performance that not only entertains but also introduces audiences to new and intriguing musical landscapes.

To you, what makes a good set?

A good set is defined by its ability to take the audience on a captivating musical journey. This involves a thoughtful selection of tracks that resonate with the crowd’s mood and energy, as well as seamless transitions that maintain a cohesive flow. The ability to read the audience and adapt the set in real-time is crucial, ensuring that the performance remains engaging and responsive to the crowd’s reactions. Ultimately, a good set creates a memorable experience, sparking joy and connection among listeners while showcasing the DJ’s unique style and musical vision.

What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far?

The most memorable moment in my career so far has been the opportunity to share my sound with an audience every time I play. Each performance is a unique experience, and the joy of connecting with the crowd and seeing their positive reactions is incredibly rewarding. The personal fulfillment and excitement of presenting my musical vision to listeners makes every set a significant and memorable milestone in my career.
