Song Review: Mark Mick "Safe Boda"

Mark Mick is among the most refreshing of Kampala’s new class of rising emcees. Last November, he electrified Ugandan dance floors with his breakout anthem Girl From Nabisunsa; a catchy song with a driving beat about a teenage boarding school infatuation.

He now follows up with an infectious and uniquely Ugandan tune titled Safe Boda. Produced by close collaborator DJ Slugface, it is a club-ready celebration of youth, sung mostly in Luganda. Mark regales the listener in melody and flow of the many moves he’s made across Kampala using the city’s homegrown motorcycle-hailing app, Safe Boda. The chorus might as well be a promotional jingle for the company.

Earlier this week, he released a snippet of an animated video for the song to be dropped after the audio hits 10,000 plays on Youtube.

Listen to his music on Spotify and keep up with him on Instagram and Twitter.
