capespring.'s 'limbo' Is A Lo-Fi Mood Conductor
Nairobi’s lo-fi prince, capespring. has released a new single, limbo featuring mau from nowhere. It's a mellow, percussion-driven tune that’s readily made for introspective ears that often contemplate the ghosts of heartbreak’s past.
capespring.’s hook is equal parts catchy and thought-provoking. He reflects on the agonizing limbo that comes with “trying to get with someone who doesn’t give signs or hints that they like you back.” mau delivers a pensive, vulnerable verse that gracefully flutters between talking, singing and rapping. Though the song has a short runtime, it’s success is illustrated by capespring’s mastery of expressing heavy lyrical content with concision and brevity.
This is capespring.’s first release since March’s diodrama EP, a 5-song project delving into the complexities and contradictions of being a lovesick, commitment-phobe
Limbo is available now on all streaming platforms.
