Canada-based, Ethiopian-Tanzanian artist Turunesh released her first music video to her song Afrodite and it is nothing short of stunning.

Turunesh takes on the role of Afrodite; in the words of Titani Sumaisi, “her charm…being that of a deity in kingdom of her own creation.” Her presence entices and entrances as she pays homage to the divinity of the African woman. The choice of gold and copper aesthetics serve to emphasize her goddess-like stature. The videos YouTube description states that, “the theme of this song is repossession through spiritual possession.” and it succeeds in doing just that. Rather than following a sequential story line, the video depicts differing frames either sharply cutting from one to another or fading into each other.
