Rain or Shine - Kibra

This one for the lovers. Off of Eritrean-Canadian R&B artist Kibra’s Latest EP, AND IT WAS GOOD, Rain or Shine is a hazy number detailing a sweet, giving and caring kind of love. Kibra’s soothing vocals are carried by soft, feel-good instrumentation as she croons “I get you mad but it don’t push you away/I know you’ll love me in the sun or in the rain” on the hook. Allow yourself to be enchanted by the singer as you listen to this track.

True To Me - Karun ft. SKY Girls KE

Karun never seems to skip a beat and True To Me serves as further evidence of that. Written as the anthem for SKY Girls KE, a Kenyan platform aimed at empowering teenage girls, True To Me is a fierce, uplifting track whose message of sticking to your beliefs and staying true to yourself is one we all need. Sonically, the production on this bouncy, feel-good track is impeccable and Karun’s vocals are honey. And of course we can’t forget the stunning, colourful visuals!

100 - Hoosh

This is a song made for a late night drive The beat is chilled, the keyboard is euphoric and Hoosh’s lyrics are bittersweet, reminiscing on a past romance.

2AM - Ramain

Ramian’s brand of woozy, raw R&B is hauntingly refreshing. On 2AM, we hear him frustratingly go through the complex feeling of knowing you’re loosing a connection with a lover but not knowing how to salvage that relationship. His stirring voice and poetic songwriting coupled with the tracks slow-burning, beat driven instrument will have you thinking about that sending that risky text to your ex.

Nimerudi Tena (Freestyle) - Ssaru

Straight Bars. The lyrics flow out of Ssaru like bullets over this Riccobeatz Mr.808 produced track. As the title suggests, she’s back from her proverbial slumber and all rappers in her vicinity ought to be worried. “Ogopa bana!”

Mpumuza
- Akeine

This is a fun laid-back love song with the faintest reggae skank on account of its’ live percussive sound and playful melodies. Akeine’s vocals sound like a cold glass of water on a sunny day. Her, along with Cxnrvd, and Chef Barry are connected to Bantu Vibes; a Kampala collective known for their eclectic events and releases featuring many of Uganda’s most stand-out rising stars.

Ridin Round - Edoquarto & Josh Forehead

This is our favorite track off CXCV Bootleg Tape; an 8 track project from Ugandan rapper Josh Forehead and producer Edoquarto. The schizophrenic beat switches between somber piano, to uptempo dancehall, as Josh gets nostalgic about the dysfunction of a past love. “You said I was your type, even though I shouldn’t be” he sings.

Lovin’ Life - Jaydabliu
